Papers of or about individuals from the Port Jefferson area or connected with Port Jefferson history, including members of the Terrell, Tooker, Townsend, Tuthill and Tyler families. Items of note include letters from Harriet Terrell to "Sister" discussing family news and religious revivals in Port Jefferson, 1857-1858; last will of Catherine R. Tooker, 1856; deed of Henry K. Townsend selling his hotel in Port Jefferson to Caleb H. Davis, 1867, and articles of agreement between Jesse H. Davis and Frank V. Smith concerning the Townsend House property, 1903. Also letters to Mary Tuthill (Mrs. Miner Tuthill) from her father, written aboard the schooner Harry Maybee in the Caribbean, 1859; genealogical notes and correspondence concerning the Dayton family; and papers of Capt. Israel B. Tyler including bills of sale, enrollment papers, licenses, bills and receipts for ship supplies and freight, and other letters and papers relating to schooners William Bacon, Walter Smith and Sea Flower, 1855-1866.
